Micro-injection sclerotherapy is used in conjunction with Veinwave to treat thread veins of varying sizes on the legs. Laser devices, originally designed for hair removal, are used by some beauty therapists to treat thread veins. Laser treatment is painful, offers limited success and is prone to scarring.

Veinwave uses an ultra-fine insulated needle to allow accurate application of the treatment while protecting the skin and surrounding tissues.

Staining and scarring has not been described after Veinwave. The procedure is relatively painless and, unlike other treatments can be applied to all areas of the body.

Facial thread veins can be embarrassing and unsightly in both men and women. Veinwave is the only effective treatment for this condition.

Veinwave treatments are carried out in twenty minute sessions. Your consultant surgeon will carry out the procedure personally with the aid of a special light source and magnifying glasses. Treatments may be weekly or more widely spaced. The appropriate timing will be explained to you during the initial consultation. It usual to require several treatments of a specific area. Veinwave is highly successful when used for the appropriate thread veins.

Before coming for treatment please do not use an artificial tanning product or moisturiser on the affected area. Veinwave like all other treatments of thread veins is not advised for pregnant women. If you are epileptic, the treatment may not be suitable for you. Please tell your surgeon if you may be allergic to nickel (watch back plates, etc)

Immediately after the treatment you can resume everyday activities. Avoid the sun for a couple of days or use sun block. After a few days very small micro-crusts like the marks from a cat scratch will appear where Veinwave has applied. This is normal and no special care is needed. These will disappear on their own. It is best not to retreat an area for 6 weeks. At that time your consultant is best able to see if any small veins remain.

Once a thread vein has been successfully treated it cannot come back. It is possible to make more thread veins but these too can be treated.
